DAP Files Police Report Over Facebook Post on Negeri Sembilan Crisis

SEREMBAN, October 2, 2026 — Negeri Sembilan DAP yesterday lodged a police report over a social media post that allegedly linked the party to the ongoing political crisis in the state and the royal institution.

State DAP chairman J. Arul Kumar said the Facebook post, published by an account under the name Khalide Al Walid, allegedly made several claims involving the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan and DAP, including issues concerning customary land.

He said the allegations were serious as they involved the royal institution, which should remain above political interests.

“As a political party, we are accustomed to criticism and pressure, but when the royal institution is linked to any political party, it crosses the line,” he told reporters after lodging the report at the Seremban district police headquarters yesterday.

Arul, who is also the Nilai assemblyman, said DAP would leave the matter to the police to investigate, including identifying the owner and background of the Facebook account and determining whether any legal action should be taken.

He said the post also allegedly linked DAP to several other issues, including customary land, elected representatives attending religious briefings and the renaming of roads.

On customary land, Arul said the transfer of ownership had never been discussed during his eight years as a state executive councillor.

He also clarified that DAP elected representatives who attended briefings at the state religious office did so in their capacity as elected representatives to obtain information for their constituents, particularly Muslim voters.

Regarding the renaming of roads, Arul said such decisions were made by the State Executive Council and should not be attributed to any particular political party.

He said DAP did not want the issues to be politicised or linked to the party, adding that the ongoing crisis in Negeri Sembilan should be resolved promptly to ensure the state administration could continue functioning effectively.
