KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 24 — Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay will officially retire from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) this Sunday, ending a distinguished career spanning nearly 35 years.
Ayob Khan said Sunday would mark his final day in uniform after dedicating almost three and a half decades to the nation’s police force.
“God willing, this Sunday will be my last day in the force after serving PDRM for nearly 35 years,” he said during a press conference following the launch of his biography on Thursday.
Throughout his career, Ayob Khan held several key positions within the police force, including Johor Police Chief, Director of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), and Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in June 2023.
Speaking about his retirement plans, Ayob Khan said he might venture into the restaurant business, joking that the public could one day see him in a sarong and sleeveless undershirt flipping roti canai.
“Perhaps people will see me wearing a sarong and a singlet while making roti canai,” he said with a laugh.
For now, however, he said his priority is to take a well-deserved break after concluding his service with PDRM.
Ayob Khan also revealed that he may publish another book in the future, offering a more detailed account of the operations he participated in throughout his policing career, which he hopes to share with the public.
