Ewon Delivers Contributions to 25 Mosques, Surau and 599 Asnaf in Kadamaian

KOTA BELUD: Kadamaian State Assemblyman Datuk Ewon Benedick presented contributions to 25 mosques and surau as well as 599 asnaf (eligible recipients of charitable aid) throughout the Kadamaian State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area.

The contributions were handed over during the Iftar Programme with Mosque and Surau Committees across DUN Kadamaian, held at the compound of Masjid Kampung Tambulion here yesterday.

Ewon said the programme is one of the annual initiatives he organizes every Ramadan since becoming the elected representative for the area.

This year, the Kadamaian ADUN Service Centre collaborated with Yayasan KOSMA to organise the programme.

A total of 25 mosques and surau across DUN Kadamaian each received RM1,000 along with baskets of dates, while 599 asnaf also received assistance contributed by Yayasan KOSMA and KKIP Sdn Bhd.

I would like to thank Yayasan KOSMA and KKIP Sdn Bhd for providing these contributions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ewon, who is also Deputy Chief Minister III and Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, also presented a Sentuhan Kasih ADUN Kadamaian contribution of RM10,000 to Masjid Kampung Tambulion.

He said programmes like this are not only intended to assist those in need but also to strengthen the bonds between leaders and the local community.

According to him, one of Sabah’s greatest strengths is the unity and mutual understanding among people of different races and religions.

This is the greatness and uniqueness of Sabah. Within one large family, we often see family members who practise different religions—some Muslim, some Christian, and perhaps others as well—yet they are still able to celebrate each other’s religious festivals in harmony.

When this spirit of harmony and togetherness begins within the family and is then carried into the community, neighbourhood, and district, I believe it can become a good example for societies outside Sabah,” he said.

Ewon expressed hope that the values of mutual respect, cooperation and celebration of diversity will continue to be strengthened to ensure that unity in the state remains well preserved.

Hopefully the values we practise will inspire communities elsewhere on how people of different races and religions can respect, complement and celebrate one another,” he said.
