RANAU: A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping his 13-year-old biological daughter in a village in Ranau, Sabah.
Ranau district police chief Superintendent Mursalin Mahmud said the suspect was detained on Monday following a police report lodged by the victim’s aunt.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mursalin said police received a complaint alleging that the girl had been sexually assaulted by her biological father.
Preliminary investigations found that the incident allegedly occurred at about 2am on Sept 20, when the suspect entered the victim’s bedroom and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The victim was reportedly living with her biological father and stepmother at the time. The incident allegedly took place while the stepmother was away from the district.
The suspect has been detained for further investigation under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.
