PUTRAJAYA — The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) held a meeting with the Animation Society of Malaysia (ANIMAS) at Menara Komunikasi to discuss current issues affecting players in the local animation industry.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by industry stakeholders and explore ways to strengthen the sector.
FINAS is expected to organise a townhall session with industry players after Hari Raya Aidilfitri to further engage with stakeholders and gather feedback on the development of the industry.
ANIMAS, which has been active since 2007, currently has more than 5,000 members nationwide and plays an important role in representing animation practitioners across the country.
Animation remains one of the key segments in the film industry with strong potential for growth, including in the export market. One notable success is the animated film Papazola, which has grossed more than RM68 million at cinemas nationwide and was also screened in Indonesia.
The Ministry of Communications Malaysia, particularly through FINAS, will continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening and developing the local animation industry.
