He was charged with riding a Yamaha motorcycle without due care and attention for other road users, resulting in an accident involving a pedestrian at Persiaran Saujana 4, Sungai Buloh District, at 12.08 pm on Sept 28.

The charge was framed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a fine of between RM5,000 and RM10,000 and imprisonment of up to 12 months upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Alia Anisa Khairus Masnan proposed bail of RM5,000 with one surety, while lawyer Muhamad Saifullah Muhamad Azmi requested a lower amount, citing his client’s lack of fixed income and responsibility for his unemployed parents.

The court granted bail of RM2,000 with one surety and ordered the accused to report to a police station once a month. The case was fixed for mention on Nov 12.

A 60-second video that went viral on Monday showed a student being knocked down by a motorcyclist while crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing. Both the student and motorcyclist were seen falling following the collision.
