French Open 2026: Malaysia Guaranteed Men’s Doubles Title

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 October 2026 – Malaysia has secured the men’s doubles crown at the French Open 2026 after two national pairs advanced to an all-Malaysian final, guaranteeing the country another international badminton title.

The showdown will feature Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun against independent duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani at Arena Grand Paris, following their impressive semi-final victories over Indonesian opponents.

With both Malaysian pairs advancing, the championship title is assured regardless of the final result.

Wei Chong and Kai Wun Deliver Convincing Victory

Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun booked their place in the final after defeating Indonesia’s Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin in straight games.

The Malaysian combination controlled the encounter, securing a 21-16, 21-15 victory in just 31 minutes.

Their performance earned them a place in the championship match of the prestigious BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament.

Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Complete All-Malaysian Final

Meanwhile, Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani overcame another Indonesian pairing, Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin, to confirm Malaysia’s dominance in the men’s doubles semi-finals.

The world number five duo claimed a 22-20, 21-9 victory in 31 minutes.

After a closely contested opening game, Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin produced a commanding second-game performance to seal their place in the final.

The pair have enjoyed a successful 2026 campaign, capturing the Indonesia Masters title in January and the Indonesia Open crown in June.

Malaysian Pairs Set for Championship Showdown

The final will bring together two Malaysian combinations with different rankings and tournament experiences.

Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin enter the contest ranked fifth in the world, while Wei Chong and Kai Wun occupy 11th position.

Previous meetings between the pairs have been competitive, with Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin winning two of their three encounters.

The upcoming final also marks another significant appearance for Wei Chong and Kai Wun, who previously reached the Korea Masters final in August with different partners.

At that tournament, Kai Wun partnered Yap Roy King to defeat Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik for the title.

Malaysia Guaranteed French Open Glory

The all-Malaysian final ensures the national flag will be represented on the top step of the men’s doubles podium.

While both pairs will compete for individual honours and the championship trophy, Malaysia is already assured of the French Open 2026 men’s doubles title.

The final will determine which Malaysian combination emerges as champion in Paris.
