Google Grants 200 European Researchers Access to Advanced AI Models

DUBLIN, October 14 2026, Google has announced plans to provide 200 European researchers with access to its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) models and scientific research tools to accelerate innovation across the continent.

The announcement was made at an AI summit in Dublin, where Google said the initiative would give research teams access to computing resources and advanced technologies to strengthen Europe’s scientific capabilities.

The researchers were selected by the European Commission under its Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE) scheme.

Through the initiative, participants will gain access to scientific tools developed by Google DeepMind and Google Cloud, including AlphaFold 3, WeatherNext, AlphaGenome, AlphaEvolve and AlphaEarth Foundations.

These technologies support research across different fields. AlphaFold 3 focuses on predicting biological structures and interactions, while WeatherNext is designed to improve weather forecasting. The other tools support research involving genomics, scientific discovery and Earth observation.

Google said the initiative aims to provide researchers with the resources needed to advance scientific research and strengthen Europe’s global competitiveness in innovation.

The announcement comes amid growing calls for stricter AI regulation following a series of security incidents, highlighting the ongoing debate over balancing technological progress with safety and accountability.
