KUALA LUMPUR, October 7 — The MADANI Government remains committed to supporting local content production and helping more Malaysian creative works and intellectual property (IP) penetrate international markets, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said.
He said the government would continue to support the development of Malaysia’s creative industry, including the local film and music sectors, while creating greater opportunities for Malaysian talent and creative works to gain international recognition.
Fahmi said the matter was among the issues discussed during his meeting yesterday with two prominent figures in the local creative industry — Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM) deputy president Datuk Dr Yusof Haslam and renowned music maestro Datuk M. Nasir.
“We discussed the development of the local film and music industry, as well as how Malaysian talent and creative works can continue to be strengthened,” he said in a social media post.
The government’s efforts are aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s creative ecosystem and providing greater opportunities for locally produced content and IP to reach audiences beyond the domestic market.
The engagement with Yusof and M. Nasir also highlights the government’s continued discussions with industry players on the development and future direction of Malaysia’s creative sector.
