High Court Suspends RoS Deregistration Notice Against PN

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has allowed Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s application to suspend a deregistration notice issued against the coalition by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) two days ago.

Judge Datuk Azizan Md Arshad ruled that the suspension would remain in force until the judicial review proceedings are heard.

The decision allows PN to contest the Melaka State Election (PRN) using its coalition logo while the legal proceedings are ongoing.

In delivering the ruling, Azizan said the court found that exceptional circumstances justified granting the suspension, particularly the potential harm to PN’s political activities and its participation in the state election.

“The court must weigh the possibility of greater harm, whether the suspension is granted or refused,” he said.
