KL Immigration Department to Investigate Alleged Misuse of Special Passes

KUALA LUMPUR, October 17 2026,  The Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department will investigate allegations of irregularities in the issuance of special passes at its Kuala Lumpur office.

Its director, Datuk Hamsha Injau, said the department’s Integrity Division would examine the allegations to establish their validity, stressing that any form of misconduct would not be tolerated.

He said appropriate action would be taken if investigations uncovered evidence of violations of the law or regulations.

Hamsha also urged members of the public to conduct their dealings with the Immigration Department through official channels and avoid engaging unauthorised intermediaries.

The investigation follows a media report alleging that special passes, which are intended to assist foreign nationals facing emergencies or urgent circumstances, were being systematically misused to extend their stay in Malaysia.

The report also alleged the involvement of local intermediaries who managed applications, collected applicants’ passports and forwarded their photographs to immigration officers through messaging applications for preliminary verification.
