Kota Belud Industrial Park Master Plan to Be Tabled at Sabah Cabinet — Ewon

KOTA BELUD, March 26, 2026: The master plan for the Kota Belud Industrial Park will be presented to the Sabah State Cabinet at its upcoming meeting, said Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Ewon, who is also the state Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, said the Cabinet paper aligns with the state government’s earlier announcement to develop new industrial parks in Kota Belud and Kudat to strengthen Sabah’s economic growth.

He added that the Kota Belud Industrial Park project will be implemented by Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), an agency under his ministry.

“As the agency mandated to implement this industrial park, we will submit the Cabinet paper and I am confident that the Chief Minister and members of the State Cabinet will support this proposal, enabling us to begin marketing efforts and attract investors,” he said.

Ewon spoke to reporters after attending a Hari Raya open house event at Kampung Tegudon here.

The Kadamaian assemblyman said the state government will engage with major companies, both domestic and international, to encourage investment and operations in the proposed industrial park.

“As one of the assemblymen representing Kota Belud, this is certainly a matter of pride as it will create economic opportunities for the local community — from existing entrepreneurs participating in service supply chains to local graduates seeking employment in industries within the park,” he said.

He also revealed that he will lead overseas trade missions and accompany the Chief Minister, particularly to China, to meet potential investors.

The initiative, he said, will be carried out in collaboration with state and federal agencies to strengthen Sabah’s economy, create job opportunities for graduates, and provide avenues for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be part of industrial service chains.

Ewon noted that about 13,000 acres of land have been identified for the development, which will be implemented in phases, subject to State Cabinet approval.

In terms of location, the proposed site is in the Pintasan state constituency, bordering the districts of Kota Marudu and Kota Belud, and situated near the Kota Belud coastal area.

“Hopefully, it will receive support from the local community, as it is time for Kota Belud to have larger-scale economic activities such as an industrial park that can drive growth beyond the town itself,” he said.
