PUTRAJAYA — The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has assured that every complaint regarding the price, supply and abuse of controlled goods including RON95 petrol subsidies will be investigated within 24 hours of receipt.
KPDN Enforcement Director-General Datuk Azman Adam said the commitment is to ensure that every issue affecting consumers can be dealt with quickly and effectively.
He said the Ministry of Interior received 46,815 complaints in 2024 while more than 46,200 complaints were recorded last year.
“The number (of complaints) is actually high. Our commitment is that we will investigate issues, especially those related to prices, supply and irregularities, within 24 hours,” he said in an interview with Bernama recently.
Azman said to facilitate enforcement action, the public was urged to provide accurate and complete information to the ministry.
He said clear information including the location of the incident and the nature of the offence would help enforcement officers conduct investigations more quickly and effectively.
“KPDN practices protection for parties who provide the information.
“So we will investigate each complaint professionally and users or complainants need not be afraid because all the data will be kept confidential,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also advised the public not to spread a case on social media before making a report to the authorities because such action could affect the investigation process.
“In some cases, spreading information too early can cause the parties involved to delete evidence including closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings before the investigation is carried out,” he said.
In this regard, he encouraged the public to use various channels provided by KPDN to channel information including the WhatsApp line at 019-8488000.
Complaints can also be made via the KPDN e-Complaint portal, which is http://eaduan.kpdn.gov.my; hotline 1-800-886-800 and the KPDN Ez ADU Smartphone Application.
“The public’s cooperation is very important to help the government combat the misuse of controlled goods and ensure that the subsidies provided are truly enjoyed by the people,” he said.
