SEREMBAN, July 17 2026 — Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has dismissed claims that his decision to contest the Linggi state seat in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election was an attempt to avoid defending Sikamat, saying the move was his own choice.
The Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said he hoped to continue serving the people of Linggi with the same dedication he had shown in Sikamat over the past four terms.
“Insya-Allah, if I am given the mandate and emerge victorious, I will work even harder and do my very best for the well-being of the people of Linggi,” he said in a Facebook post.
Reflecting on his political journey in Sikamat, the State PKR chairman said the constituency’s residents had witnessed the challenges he faced throughout his four terms as their elected representative.
“From operating out of a small office above a shoplot, with very limited allocations while we were in the opposition, we worked together to raise funds, help the people and organise various programmes for the welfare of the community. Those memories will always remain with me,” he said.
Aminuddin also expressed his appreciation to the people of Sikamat for their unwavering support throughout his tenure as the area’s elected representative.
He also expressed hope that Nor Azman Mohamad, who has been named to replace him in Sikamat, would continue serving the constituency with dedication.
Aminuddin is expected to face Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate and incumbent Linggi assemblyman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli in the upcoming state election.
Nominations are on Saturday, followed by early voting on July 28 and polling on Aug 1.
