SHAH ALAM, October 10 2026, A lorry driver involved in a collision with 11 other vehicles at a traffic light junction in Alam Budiman yesterday tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said the 51-year-old driver is being detained for investigation under Section 44(1A)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and is expected to be remanded today.
Preliminary investigations found that the driver claimed his lorry had brake problems while travelling downhill from Puncak Perdana towards Puncak Alam at about 4.20 pm. The vehicle allegedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane and struck 11 vehicles waiting at the Alam Budiman junction.
A 58-year-old Subaru XV driver sustained serious head injuries and was receiving treatment at UiTM Hospital Puncak Alam. His wife, 53, and grandson, 17, were reported to be in stable condition. A 29-year-old Perodua Myvi driver also sustained bodily injuries but was reported to be stable.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Abdul Nasser Peping, at 012-286 3875.
