KUALA LUMPUR, October 19, 2026 – Assistance for middle-income households, transparency in government allocations and the effectiveness of a tourism compliance programme are among the key issues scheduled for discussion at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
According to the Parliament’s Order Paper, Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan (BN-Kuala Pilah) will ask the Finance Minister about measures to support M40 households that no longer qualify for targeted assistance but continue to face rising living costs.
He is also seeking clarification on whether the government could introduce a mechanism to reassess eligibility based on households’ current income and expenditure.
Meanwhile, Datuk Dr Richard Rapu @ Aman anak Begri (GPS-Betong) will seek a detailed breakdown of the RM50 million allocated to the MADANI School programme and RM200 million for the Kampung Angkat programme.
He will also ask for information on the programmes’ financial impact and the actual number of beneficiaries under the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), with the aim of ensuring greater transparency.
Hassan Saad (PN-Baling) is scheduled to ask the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister about the performance indicators used to evaluate the Tourism Compliance Focus Zone (ZTPP) programme, particularly its effectiveness in reducing complaints about excessive pricing.
Another issue on the agenda is the implementation of the National Women’s Policy 2025–2030, which will be raised by Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota).
Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH-Bandar Kuching) will also ask the Communications Minister whether the government plans to extend the minimum age restrictions for social media use to online gaming platforms, especially those with significant numbers of child and teenage users.
