Malaysia remains committed to strengthening regional security cooperation through closer ties and mutual understanding among ASEAN member states, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
He said strong relationships among ASEAN countries are essential to maintaining regional peace and stability, both through formal negotiations and personal engagement.
Saifuddin made the remarks following the 20th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC), which concluded in Makati City, the Philippines.
He also expressed appreciation to the Philippine government for hosting the meeting and to the Malaysian Embassy in Manila for supporting the Malaysian delegation.
He said continued cooperation and friendship among ASEAN members would help strengthen regional security.
