PUTRAJAYA, October 10 2026, Malaysia and Egypt are seeking to expand educational cooperation into engineering, medicine, electrical and electronics, digital technology and artificial intelligence, beyond their traditional focus on Islamic studies.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said broader collaboration would help address the growing demand for skilled professionals while maintaining Al-Azhar University’s role in Islamic education and promoting Wasatiyyah (moderation).
He also highlighted Egypt’s contributions to Malaysia’s medical education and Islamic affairs, while calling for stronger cooperation in defence, including joint training.
The move is part of efforts to elevate bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership after more than 60 years of diplomatic ties.
