KUALA LUMPUR, JULY 24 — The Malaysian government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national unity by encouraging citizens to uphold three fundamental elements that symbolise the nation’s identity and harmony.
In a public awareness campaign shared by the Department of Information Malaysia (Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia), the government urged Malaysians to respect the Negaraku national anthem, honour the Jalur Gemilang national flag, and uphold the five principles of the Rukun Negara.
The campaign, themed “Three Core Elements of National Unity”, aims to instil patriotism and foster a stronger sense of belonging among Malaysians from all walks of life, particularly in conjunction with the country’s National Month celebrations.
According to the campaign, respecting the national anthem reflects loyalty and appreciation for the nation’s sovereignty, while honouring the Jalur Gemilang symbolises pride in Malaysia’s independence, achievements, and unity.
The government also emphasised the importance of practising the five principles of the Rukun Negara—Belief in God, Loyalty to King and Country, Supremacy of the Constitution, Rule of Law, and Courtesy and Morality—as the foundation for maintaining peace, mutual respect, and social cohesion.
The initiative highlights the role of every Malaysian in preserving unity in the country’s multicultural society by embracing shared national values regardless of race, religion, or background.
The campaign materials were released under the Malaysia MADANI initiative, with the National Security Council (MKN) cited as the source of the message.
Authorities hope the campaign will inspire Malaysians to continue strengthening national solidarity and fostering a culture of mutual respect as the nation moves towards a more united and prosperous future.
