Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman

PUTRAJAYA, October 1 2026 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is strengthening its enforcement, prevention and integrity efforts as it marks its 59th anniversary.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said his administration is guided by five priorities: uncompromising integrity, fair enforcement, proactive prevention, technology adoption, and transparency and public trust.

He said MACC must continue adapting its investigative methods to address increasingly complex corruption offences.

On enforcement, Abd Halim stressed that firm action must be balanced with respect for the rights, dignity and due process of individuals under investigation.

He also highlighted the agency’s shift towards proactive prevention through the Governance Investigation Division and Intelligence-Based Investigation, aimed at identifying systemic weaknesses and detecting corruption before problems escalate.

Technology, digitalisation, data analytics and artificial intelligence are also being adopted to improve investigations, including identifying financial anomalies and tracing complex money flows.

Between January and Aug 31, MACC received 5,239 reports and opened 842 investigation papers, resulting in 803 arrests.

Abd Halim said MACC’s success should not be measured by statistics alone, but by its ability to recover public funds, strengthen systems and increase public confidence in national institutions.
