PUTRAJAYA, September 24 2026, The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are strengthening their cooperation to combat the misuse of network services for online child sexual exploitation.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said MCMC, as the technical agency, would continue assisting PDRM, particularly the D11 Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, in tracing individuals who misuse network services and bringing them to justice.
He said the collaboration covers technical and forensic support for police investigations into online child sexual exploitation activities.
On Sept 22, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said 53 individuals, including eight teenagers, had been arrested in Op Pedo Integrated 3.0 for suspected involvement in activities related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The arrests followed intelligence gathered by the D11 unit and MCMC. Police also detected the production, distribution and sale of CSAM-related videos and animations through closed online groups.
Fahmi said MCMC was also focusing on strengthening social media safety through the legal framework under the Online Safety Act, particularly to protect women and children.
