MELAKA — Melaka FC Head Coach E.Elavarasan described the 2-1 victory over Kelantan The Real Warriors in the Super League match last night as three very important points to improve his team’s position in the league table.
He said the victory gave the team a sense of relief as the season draws to a close with only five matches remaining.
“With five matches remaining, every point is very important. This victory helps us improve our position and motivates the players to continue fighting in the remaining matches,” he told reporters after the match at the Hang Jebat Stadium, last night.
In the match, Kelantan The Real Warriors first took the lead through a goal by Enzo Nicolas Jacques Celestine in the 12th minute.
Melaka FC, however, came back to equalize through Ahmed Ayman Shamsaldin Abdalazem in the 44th minute before Che Rashid Che Halim scored the winning goal in the 66th minute.
Elavarasan said his team made a few mistakes in the first half, but tactical changes and player substitutions in the second half helped improve the team’s performance.
He said his team is scheduled to play Sabah FC next month at home and the period after Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be used to reorganise the team to face the remaining competitions this season.
Meanwhile, Kelantan The Real Warriors fitness coach, Kamarul Dinis Kamarudin said his players have shown high commitment throughout the match but luck has not been on their side.
He said the team was slightly affected by the fatigue factor due to the tight schedule and having to play several matches outside Kota Bharu in a short period of time.
Melaka FC is currently in 12th place in the Super League with 14 points, just one point behind Kelantan The Real Warriors who are in 11th place after collecting 15 points.
