MELAKA, Oct 7 — The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting today to decide key dates and preparations for the 16th Melaka state election.
The meeting, chaired by EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, is scheduled to begin at 10am, followed by a media conference.
The EC is expected to announce the dates for the issuance of the election writ, nomination, early voting and polling, as well as the campaign period.
The Melaka Legislative Assembly was dissolved effective Sept 23 following an announcement by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh on Sept 22.
In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats, while Pakatan Harapan secured five and Perikatan Nasional two.
