Melaka Polls: PPP Leaves Seat Allocation To BN

ALOR GAJAH, September 13 2026, The People’s Progressive Party  (PPP) has conveyed its intention to the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to be allocated a seat to contest in the upcoming 16th Melaka State Election.

PPP president Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the party had not specifically identified any seat to contest in the upcoming state election, instead leaving the matter to BN’s consideration based on the suitability of the area and current geopolitical changes.

“PPP previously contested the Kota Laksamana state seat in 2013, but after internal party problems in 2018, we were not allocated a seat. So now we are seeking to be given a seat again,” he told Bernama.

Earlier, he met with 120 PPP members comprising division chiefs, branch chiefs, state Youth chiefs and Women’s wing chiefs in Melaka, here today.

In a related development, Loga Bala announced the appointment of PPP Youth chief and PPP Federal Territories chief Sathiah Sudakaran as PPP Melaka Election Director to assist PPP Melaka chief Logeswaran Ganesan in coordinating preparations for the state election.

He said the preparation of the PPP Melaka election machinery was now more than 90 per cent complete and that the machinery would assist BN throughout Melaka, as the party had done in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections previously.

The Melaka State Legislative Assembly’s term will end in December.
