MELAKA: Melaka voters will head to the polls on Nov 14 for the 16th state election, the Election Commission (EC) announced today.
Nomination day has been set for Oct 31, while early voting will take place on Nov 10.
The EC made the announcement following a special meeting chaired by its chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun to finalise key dates for the state election.
The election follows the dissolution of the Melaka state assembly on Sept 23, paving the way for the state’s 16th election.
The campaign period will begin after nomination on Oct 31 and continue until polling day on Nov 14.
In the 2021 state election, Barisan Nasional won 21 of the 28 seats contested, while Pakatan Harapan secured five seats and Perikatan Nasional won two.
The upcoming election is expected to be closely watched as political parties negotiate seat allocations and alliances ahead of polling day.
