Motorcyclist Killed by Drunk and Drug-Impaired Driver in Klang Crash

KLANG — A man was killed in a horrific three-vehicle accident along Jalan Raya Barat here at 11.40 am yesterday.

According to South Klang District Police Chief Lim Jit Huey, the crash involved a motorcycle and two cars — a Honda City and a Perodua Myvi.

Preliminary investigations found that the Honda City driver, a local man in his 20s, was allegedly driving at high speed and recklessly from Jalan Raya Barat Bandar Klang. He is believed to have overtaken several vehicles before veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the victim’s motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

The impact threw the victim, a local man in his 30s, onto a Perodua Myvi, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Screening tests later revealed that the driver was positive for both alcohol and drugs. He has since been detained to assist in further investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a jail term of between 10 and 15 years, a fine ranging from RM50,000 to RM100,000, and immediate suspension of the driving licence upon conviction.

It is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, along with supervision for two to three years if convicted.

Members of the public with information on the incident are urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the investigating officer.

Earlier, a one-minute dashcam video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the victim being struck before being flung onto the roof of a vehicle.
