KUALA LUMPUR: The father of five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir, who died in a six-vehicle crash along Jalan Kuching, is seeking justice and appropriate punishment for those found responsible for the tragedy.
Ahmad Syahir Mohammad Nor Izam said he and his family had accepted their daughter’s death as God’s will but hoped the legal process would ensure justice was served fairly and transparently.
He said the family would do everything possible to seek justice for Asiah while leaving the investigation entirely to the police.
The accident occurred at about 3.44pm last Saturday when a BYD Seal allegedly crashed into the rear of a Perodua Bezza travelling in slow-moving traffic towards Segambut.
The collision also involved a motorcycle, causing the Bezza to spin into the right lane and collide with three other vehicles — a Nissan Almera, Toyota Alphard and Perodua Myvi.
Asiah, who was travelling in the Bezza, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The Bezza driver and the motorcyclist also sustained injuries.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa previously said the 24-year-old BYD Seal driver was still receiving treatment at a private hospital while investigations continued.
Ahmad Syahir, who works as a bilal, said the family had been returning to their home in Sungai Pencala after an outing in Keramat. They were rushing home because he needed to perform the Asar call to prayer when the tragedy occurred.
He stressed that the family held no grudge against anyone but wanted the case to be handled through the legal system.
He also expressed hope that the case would serve as a reminder of the importance of stronger law enforcement and accountability in fatal road accidents.
“My daughter is gone, and I cannot bring her back. All I want is justice for her,” he said.
