KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the progress of a nation should not only be measured by economic achievements, technological advancement or modern infrastructure, but also by the strengthening of moral values, humanity, knowledge culture and social responsibility.
He said Malaysia must remain open to learning from global experiences and adopting the best practices from around the world as the country navigates an increasingly challenging global landscape.
However, Anwar stressed that Malaysia must not become a nation that merely imitates others without careful consideration, but should have the confidence to chart its own path based on its history, culture, values and national identity.
“We must have the confidence to determine our own direction, guided by the strengths that define our nation,” he said.
The Prime Minister also called on all government machinery to continue upholding the dignity of national institutions by carrying out their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and sincerity.
He said these principles are essential in shaping a Malaysia that is more sovereign, resilient and respected on the global stage.
