Nearly 3,000 Delegates to Attend GRS Convention in Kudat on Sunday

KOTA KINABALU: Approximately 3,000 delegates and observers representing 26 parliamentary constituencies across Sabah and Labuan are expected to attend the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Convention 2026 at Dewan Tun Mustapha in Kudat this Sunday.

GRS Secretary-General Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said Kudat was selected as the venue for the convention for the first time in line with a decision by the coalition’s Supreme Council to rotate the event among districts outside the state capital, subject to logistical considerations.

He said the convention would bring together the coalition’s central leadership and key division leaders to discuss two main areas: strengthening the party’s political preparedness for the 16th General Election (GE16) and reviewing progress in state and public development.

The discussions would also focus on reinforcing the GRS Manifesto and advancing the Sabah Maju Jaya development agenda, he said in a statement.

Armizan, who is also Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, said the programme would feature a keynote address by GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, followed by discussions involving the coalition’s six deputy chairmen, who represent the leadership of its component parties.

To encourage broader participation, the GRS headquarters secretariat has also arranged an online platform for grassroots leaders who are unable to attend in person to share their views and feedback.

GRS comprises six component parties: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) and United Kinabalu Progressive Organisation (UPKO).
