SEREMBAN, July 18 – The nomination process for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election was successfully conducted today at eight nomination centres across the state.
Election Commission (EC) Chairman Dato’ Sri Ramlan bin Dato’ Harun announced that following the close of nominations at 10.00 a.m., a total of 103 candidates representing various political parties and independent contestants were officially confirmed to contest the 36 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats.
According to Dato’ Sri Ramlan, Pakatan Harapan (PH) is fielding candidates in all 36 constituencies, while Barisan Nasional (BN) has nominated 25 candidates. Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is contesting 24 seats, Perikatan Nasional (PN) has fielded 11 candidates, while Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (BERJASA), the Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (POASM) and the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) are each contesting one seat.
In terms of contests, 11 constituencies will see straight fights, while 21 constituencies will feature three-cornered contests. Meanwhile, two constituencies will witness four-cornered contests and another two constituencies will see five-cornered contests.
Dato’ Sri Ramlan said the official campaign period commenced immediately after the announcement of the confirmed candidates and will continue until the end of the campaign period ahead of polling day.
To ensure campaign activities are conducted in accordance with election laws and regulations, the Election Commission has established 36 Election Campaign Enforcement Teams (PP-KPR) to monitor campaign activities throughout the state.
He also reminded all candidates, political parties, supporters and members of the public to comply with all election laws, regulations and campaign guidelines to ensure that the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election is conducted in a peaceful, orderly, fair and transparent manner.
