KUALA LUMPUR 14 October 2026, Pakatan Harapan (PH) has completed more than 95 per cent of its discussions on candidate selection for the upcoming Melaka state election, with the list set to be announced on Oct 24.
PH Communications director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the announcement would be attended by Prime Minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, although the venue has yet to be confirmed.
Speaking on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme, Fahmi explained that candidate selection discussions begin within PH’s component parties, with further consultations involving other parties conducted where necessary.
He said the final decision on the candidates would be made by the PH Presidential Council.
The announcement was initially scheduled for Oct 14 but was postponed following requests from several leaders, including the Melaka PH leadership.
Fahmi dismissed speculation that the postponement was linked to difficulties obtaining local authority permits or securing the event venue.
The delay had attracted attention after reports emerged that the candidate announcement and the launch of PH’s election machinery, previously scheduled for Oct 18, had been postponed.
