PKR National Congress 2026 To Begin Tomorrow With Over 5,000 Delegates, Observers

MELAKA, Aug 13 2026 More than 2,500 delegates and 3,000 observers are expected to attend the 2026 PKR National Congress, which opens tomorrow at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.

The event will open with PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar officiating the joint congresses of the Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) and Wanita PKR.

The programme will culminate on Saturday with the congress opening and a policy speech by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Several foreign envoys, including those from the United States, China, Japan and Australia, have confirmed they will attend the congress, alongside leaders of political parties.

Under the theme “Memugar Reformasi, Membina MADANI”, this year’s congress aims to renew the reform spirit at the heart of Keadilan’s founding while adapting its political agenda to the challenges of building Malaysia MADANI.

PKR 2026 National Congress director Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said the congress would focus its debates on economic, education and political issues, with 16 representatives from the party’s wings and states set to debate the president’s policy speech.

As in previous years, the congress will present the Bill Kayong Award to five families to honour the contributions of their family members who served the party until their deaths.

Several ministries and agencies are also supporting the congress, including the National Registration Department, Immigration Department, Royal Malaysia Police and Registrar of Societies, while the Melaka Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is organising the Mega Rahmah Carnival to offer direct services to delegates, observers and the people of Melaka.

Anwar is scheduled to wind up the debate on Sunday before adjourning the congress.
