PUTRAJAYA, June 23 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, said a luncheon banquet held in conjunction with the official visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman provided an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and mutual understanding between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Anwar said that after the conclusion of official engagements, both delegations attended a luncheon banquet featuring cultural performances that showcased the richness of heritage, uniqueness of traditions and cultural diversity of the two nations.
“The cultural presentations reflected the refinement of heritage, uniqueness of traditions and diversity that are symbols of pride for both Malaysia and Bangladesh,” he said in a statement.
According to Anwar, the event served as a meaningful platform for delegates from both countries to deepen personal and diplomatic ties while appreciating each other’s identities, customs and cultural wealth.
He noted that people-to-people exchanges and cultural appreciation remain important pillars in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering greater understanding between nations.
“May the friendship between Malaysia and Bangladesh continue to grow stronger, guided by trust, mutual respect and strategic cooperation for the well-being of our peoples and shared prosperity,” he said.
Malaysia and Bangladesh enjoy close bilateral relations across various sectors, including trade, investment, education, labour and regional cooperation.
