KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of Malaysians despite ongoing global uncertainties during the Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQT) session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
Speaking in Parliament, Anwar highlighted the development of the Malaysia-Thailand Border Economic Zone (ZEB) as a key initiative expected to drive economic growth, attract investments, create employment opportunities, and enhance prosperity for communities in the northern border region.
The Prime Minister said the strategic cross-border economic project would strengthen economic cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand while contributing to broader national development and improving the livelihoods of the people.
Addressing concerns over the prolonged tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, Anwar outlined the government’s measures to mitigate potential economic disruptions arising from the global situation.
He said the government is taking proactive steps to ensure sufficient energy supplies, maintain the stability of essential goods prices, and strengthen assistance for affected sectors and vulnerable groups.
Anwar stressed that the government remains vigilant in monitoring global developments and is prepared to implement necessary measures to protect Malaysia’s economic resilience.
He reiterated that the MADANI Government remains committed to preserving the welfare of the people and safeguarding national interests while navigating an increasingly uncertain global landscape.
