PORT DICKSON, July 24 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s defence capabilities and safeguarding the welfare of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) during a visit to the Army Basic Training Centre (PUSASDA) in Port Dickson.
Anwar said his visit was not only to meet military personnel but also to express the government’s appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of ATM members in defending the nation’s sovereignty, security and prosperity.
He stressed that the government will continue enhancing the country’s defence readiness by upgrading military assets and operational capabilities while ensuring the welfare, facilities and needs of armed forces personnel and their families remain a top priority.
The Prime Minister said this commitment is reflected in the 2026 MADANI Budget, under which the Ministry of Defence received its highest-ever allocation of RM21.7 billion, a significant increase from RM16.1 billion in 2022, representing an increase of approximately 35 per cent.
According to Anwar, the increased allocation demonstrates the government’s determination to modernise the nation’s defence assets, strengthen military capabilities and improve the overall well-being of all members of the Malaysian Armed Forces.
In conjunction with Warriors’ Day, which will be observed on July 31, Anwar also announced that the government has approved an additional RM2 million contribution to the Warriors’ Day Fund as a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices and services of military personnel and veterans who have defended the country’s sovereignty.
He expressed hope that all members of the Malaysian Armed Forces would continue to be blessed with strength and resilience in carrying out their responsibilities.
Anwar added that the MADANI Government remains committed to standing alongside the nation’s servicemen and women by ensuring their welfare, well-being and the needs of their families continue to receive the attention they deserve.
