KUALA LUMPUR, September 28 2026, The implementation of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) has reached 68.55 per cent as of Aug 31, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said 628 development programmes had been initiated by ministries and agencies, with 214 completed and 318 currently under implementation.
He said implementation must continue to be strengthened to ensure the plan delivers meaningful benefits to its target groups.
Ahmad Zahid said the success of PuTERA35 should not be measured solely by the number of programmes completed, but by its impact on Bumiputera economic ownership, control and competitiveness.
He said the Bumiputera Economic Council Steering Committee also discussed efforts to strengthen the entrepreneur ecosystem, including seven declarations from the Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Convention 2035.
These include developing women entrepreneurs, creating Bumiputera champions, expanding export markets, and strengthening integrity and governance.
