KUALA LUMPUR,14 October 2026, Malaysia’s national men’s hockey team, the Speedy Tigers, have received RM160,000 in incentives following their silver-medal finish at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) said the incentives were presented to 20 players and eight team officials during a dinner held in their honour on Tuesday night.
MHC president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal praised the team for securing Malaysia’s third silver medal in Asian Games hockey, attributing the achievement to teamwork, discipline, hard work and sacrifice.
He described the result as a proud moment for Malaysian hockey and evidence that the national team could compete at the highest level.
Malaysia’s hopes of winning gold ended on Oct 3, when the Speedy Tigers lost 1-5 to defending champions India in the final at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium.
The team, coached by Brendon Carolan, will now prepare for two upcoming competitions: the Asian Champions Trophy in Punjab, India, from Oct 27 to Nov 5, followed by the 2026 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh from Nov 20 to 28.
