JEMPOL, JULY 24 — The final report of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Tabung Haji (TH) should be made public to ensure that depositors, contributors and the public obtain a comprehensive picture of what happened previously, said Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
He said the disclosure of the report was in line with the principles of transparency and fairness, as well as enabling the public to understand the real issues raised through the investigation.
“This is based on the principle of transparency and we want justice and I believe that with the new management and administration of Tabung Haji, it has been placed in a much better position than before.”
“I hope this report can be published in a timely and speedy manner so that it can be scrutinized and read in full by Malaysians,” he told reporters after the Ziarah Kasih MADANI program at Felda Palong 1 here yesterday.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government was prepared to reveal the final RCI report on TH in the near future to allow the people to know the results of the investigation into the alleged sale of the agency’s strategic assets.
Anwar said he would review the decision to publish the report with Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, which is expected no later than next Wednesday.
