HAWANA 2026 Forum Gathers Media Practitioners To Address Digital Era Challenges

KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 -- More than 200 media practitioners, including academics, public relations practitioners, as well as students from public and private universities, are gathering in the capital today to attend the HAWANA 2026 Media Forum, which focuses on the sustainability challenges of the media industry in the era of digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI). The event, organised by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), also brings together heads of media organisations, including those from Sabah and Sarawak, representatives of foreign media agencies in Malaysia, as well as various stakeholders in the national media landscape. The forum will be officiated by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. IBM UNVEILS NEW CYBERSECURITY MEASURES TO COUNTER AI-DRIVEN THREATS

ARMONK, N.Y., April 16 — IBM has announced a new suite of cybersecurity initiatives aimed at helping organizations defend against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks powered by advanced artificial intelligence models. The company warned that attackers are already leveraging frontier AI to accelerate every stage of the cyberattack lifecycle, significantly reducing the time, cost, and expertise required to carry out complex operations. As a result, traditional security systems—often reliant on fragmented tools and manual processes—are becoming less effective against fast-evolving, automated threats. To address these challenges, IBM Consulting is introducing a new enterprise cybersecurity assessment designed to evaluate an organization’s readiness for AI-enabled threats. The assessment provides visibility into security gaps, policy weaknesses, and AI-specific vulnerabilities, while offering prioritized recommendations and mitigation strategies. In parallel, IBM launched IBM Autonomous Security, a new multi-agent, AI-powered service built to help organizations respond to threats at machine speed. The platform integrates digital security “agents” across an enterprise’s technology environment, enabling coordinated detection, analysis, and response with minimal human intervention. According to IBM, the system is designed to identify potential attack paths, enforce security policies, detect anomalies, and contain threats in real time. S. Korea To Test AI-based Smart City Tech In Southeast Asia

SEOUL, April 13 (Bernama-Yonhap) -- South Korea will carry out pilot projects to test smart city technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) in five Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, aimed at helping address urban challenges and support domestic firms' global expansions, the land ministry said Monday. According to Yonhap News Agency, the ministry said it has selected six projects to be carried out in five countries under its 2026 K-City Network programme, an initiative that supports the application of domestic smart city projects. In Brunei, an AI-based smart city platform will be tested to improve water management and disaster response, while a smart traffic management system will help optimise traffic signals in Bacoor of the Philippines. Projects in Vietnam will help introduce on-demand transport services in Ho Chi Minh City and deploy AI-based smart intersection control systems in Can Tho to improve traffic flow. Additional projects include implementing a safety management solution for ageing buildings in Surin, Thailand, and deploying a traffic management system in Penang, Malaysia, to detect accidents and congestion. The ministry said the programme is expected to help validate the effectiveness of Korean smart technologies in overseas markets and lead to follow-up exports and investment opportunities.
