PM Anwar Ibrahim Reaffirms Malaysia’s Support for Peace in Call With Iran President

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a telephone conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Iran to convey Eid Mubarak greetings and express solidarity and prayers from Malaysians for the people of Iran. Anwar said Malaysia hopes Iran will soon return to peace and that all tensions and bloodshed can be resolved through peaceful means, wisdom and responsible diplomacy. He reiterated Malaysia’s firm stance in condemning all forms of attacks and invasions, including drone strikes and military actions involving Israel and the United States, which he said continue to claim innocent lives. The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation to Iran for its support and cooperation in assisting with the release of a Malaysian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz recently, adding that mutual respect and friendship should continue to strengthen relations between nations. According to Anwar, Pezeshkian also conveyed appreciation for Malaysia’s consistent position in upholding peace, justice and humanitarian principles on the international stage. Pahang Sultan Stresses Unity, Harmony In Aidiladha Message

KUANTAN, May 26 -- Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today called on the people, particularly Malays and Muslims, to continue safeguarding unity, avoid divisions and not be easily influenced by matters that could disrupt social harmony. His Royal Highness said Aidiladha symbolises sacrifice, sincerity and the strength of ‘ukhuwah’ (brotherhood) among Muslims. “The gathering of millions of Muslims in the Holy Land, regardless of race, status and background, proves that Islam calls on its followers to remain united, respect one another and strengthen brotherhood,” His Royal Highness said in a message in conjunction with Aidiladha 2026. Al-Sultan Abdullah noted that Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, in his Aidiladha 2026 message, had also urged Muslims and Malays in the country to remain united and avoid divisions that could weaken the community and create unease among the people. His Royal Highness said the strength of a nation and country does not depend solely on economic progress and development, but also on the unity of its people, social stability and mutual respect among races and religions. The Sultan also expressed hope that the people of the state would continue to uphold good values, strengthen the spirit of consensus and prioritise the common good for the sake of peace and national well-being.
