“EMPOWERING BUMIPUTERA ENTREPRENEURS IS A NATIONAL PRIORITY” — PM ANWAR IBRAHIM

KUALA LUMPUR,17 APRIL -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed the MADANI Government’s unwavering commitment to advancing the Bumiputera entrepreneurial agenda, positioning it as a results-driven pillar of national economic growth and shared prosperity yesterday. Speaking at a high-level roundtable, the Prime Minister highlighted a more ambitious direction through the strengthening of the Bumiputera Commercial and Industrial Community (BCIC). Among the key targets outlined are increasing Government-Linked Investment Company (GLIC) investments to RM2 billion, achieving at least 10 new public listings, and nurturing a new generation of “Bumiputera Champions” capable of reaching company valuations of RM500 million within five years. “These are not mere figures, but a reflection of our determination to elevate Bumiputera economic standing to a more competitive and sustainable level,” Anwar said. He stressed that a comprehensive and forward-looking strategy is essential—one that not only strengthens resilient existing enterprises but also opens pathways into emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and high-technology industries. Citing success stories such as SERAI and GlocAI, Anwar noted that Bumiputera entrepreneurs can excel and compete globally when supported by the right ecosystem. He added that expanded access to financing, government procurement, and commercial opportunities has already benefited companies including Bateriku, Hanan Medicare, Bluesify, Pak Tam, and Meraque. The Prime Minister emphasized that the roundtable session serves not only as a platform for ideas but as a critical avenue to address persistent challenges faced by Bumiputera entrepreneurs. He assured that the government remains attentive and responsive, continuously refining policies to reflect real-world conditions on the ground. With strong leadership and collective resolve, Anwar expressed confidence that the Bumiputera entrepreneurship agenda will continue to flourish—not only as a key driver of Malaysia’s economy but also as a powerful embodiment of social justice at the heart of the MADANI vision. --Minutes MY / Igneseous Noris --Credit: FB Anwar Ibrahim

Government Moves to Strengthen Bumiputera Economic Resilience Amid Global Uncertainty

KUALA LUMPUR — The government is stepping up efforts to strengthen the resilience of the Bumiputera economy in response to ongoing global uncertainties, through a series of strategic measures and immediate actions. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the matter was discussed during the Steering Committee Meeting of the Bumiputera Economic Council (MEB) No. 1/2026, which he chaired earlier today. He noted that the meeting focused on ensuring the Bumiputera economy remains resilient and continues to grow despite current economic challenges. “To achieve this, three key actions have been identified for immediate implementation,” he said. The first involves conducting a comprehensive assessment across critical sectors to better understand the real impact on the ground. Secondly, the government will introduce targeted interventions, including more flexible financing options, cost-related incentives, and efforts to strengthen local supply chains to support Bumiputera businesses. The third measure emphasizes firm and accountable execution without delay, supported by close monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of all initiatives. At the same time, PM Anwar Ibrahim stressed that long-term strategies must not be overlooked. These include accelerating digitalisation, empowering young entrepreneurs, and expanding into new markets to enhance competitiveness and self-reliance. He expressed confidence that with well-coordinated planning and strong collaboration among all stakeholders, the Bumiputera economy will remain robust and well-prepared to face future challenges. --Minutes MY / Igneseous Noris --Photo: FB Zahid Hamidi
