Man driving under the influence of drugs crashes into five vehicles

SHAH ALAM, JUNE 27 -- Five vehicles, including a food truck, were damaged after being hit by a man believed to be driving under the influence of drugs on Jalan Sepadu, Klang, near here yesterday morning. North Klang District Police Chief ACP Ramsay Embol said that in the incident at about 11.30am, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a suspect in his 30s was travelling from Rantau Panjang towards Bandar Sultan Suleiman. He said initial investigations found that the suspect's car had entered the opposite lane and hit several vehicles, including a food truck parked on the shoulder of the road. "No victims were injured and all parties have come forward to file a police report. A urine test on the SUV driver was found to be positive for drugs," he said in a statement today. He requested the cooperation of the public who have information to come to the nearest police station or contact the Investigating Officer of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Klang North Police Station, Inspector Surihan Samsudin, via telephone number 013-2082327 . The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Three including teenager arrested, over RM120,000 worth of drugs seized

IPOH: Police successfully busted a drug trafficking syndicate and seized ketamine and suspected Erimin 5 pills worth more than RM120,000 following a raid on a house in Pengkalan Tiara here, last Monday. Perak Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said that in the operation at 8.45pm that night, two men and a local woman aged 17 to 43 were arrested. He said the raid was carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) of the Perak Police Contingent (IPK) Headquarters based on intelligence information regarding drug trafficking activities in the area. "The police seized one transparent plastic package and nine transparent plastic packets, each containing suspected ketamine with an estimated weight of 1,001 grams. "Also seized were 350 pieces of aluminium foil, each piece containing 10 pills suspected to be Erimin 5 with an estimated weight of 1,100 grams. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated to be RM120,050," he said in a statement last night. Mohd Alwi said urine tests found that one of the suspects tested positive for ketamine, while the other two tested negative for the drug. He said the syndicate was believed to have been active for almost two years and the seized drugs were suspected of being distributed in the state. He said the first suspect was remanded for four days starting yesterday and the third suspect was remanded for six days until June 28, while the remand application for another suspect was rejected by the Ipoh Court Magistrate. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Meanwhile, Mohd Alwi said, a total of 8,721 individuals were arrested for drug offences throughout Perak from January to last month. "This success is the result of continuous cooperation between the community and enforcement agencies, especially the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM)," he said. -- BERNAMA

Drunk driver, positive for drugs among those arrested in Integrated Ops in Seremban

SEREMBAN, JUNE 21 -- Police arrested 10 men, including four drunk drivers and one who tested positive for drugs, in an Integrated Operation, Ops Samseng and Ops Samseng Jalanan, which was carried out in several locations around the district early this morning. Seremban District Police Chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman said the operation carried out by the Seremban IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) from 5pm yesterday to 4am this morning also resulted in the arrest of five individuals believed to be involved in street gang activities. He said 115 individuals and 105 vehicles were checked during the operation at four main locations, namely Jalan Sungai Ujong, Jalan Lingkaran Tengah, Jalan Bukit Kepayang and Jalan Rasah, involving three officers and 24 police personnel. "During the operation, we arrested four men who were driving under the influence of alcohol, one who tested positive for THC and five men believed to be involved in street gangs, all aged between 19 and 30. "As a result of this operation, 78 summonses were issued for various traffic offences, with the highest offence involving no driving licence in 20 cases, followed by expired motor vehicle licences in 15 cases and no insurance cover in eight cases," he said in a statement today. Mohd Yatim said that for Ops Samseng Jalanan, they will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding. Four drivers who were arrested for drunk driving are being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the same act after being found to have driven above the permitted alcohol limit, in addition to opening an investigation paper under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 against individuals who tested positive for drugs. Two arrested with RM57.15 million worth of drugs in Muar

JOHOR BAHRU: Police arrested two locals and seized various types of drugs worth RM57.15 million which were believed to be being smuggled to a neighbouring country during a raid in the Parit Amat Laut area, Muar yesterday. Marine Police Force (PPM) Region Two Commander ACP Noor Azman Jamal said the man and woman, aged 63 and 43, were arrested in a raid at 12.30am by a team from the Muar PPM Region Two Marine Investigation Unit and the Muar District Police Headquarters' Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division. He said the drugs were seized as a result of intelligence from his party which detected several vehicles and a boat in suspicious conditions in the area. "Based on initial observations, several people were seen unloading a number of packages suspected of containing drugs onto the boat. The team then raided and arrested the two individuals who were the senders (of the supplies)," he said in a statement. He said further inspection found 517 plastic bags suspected of containing 549 kilograms of methamphetamine, 191,268 ecstasy pills and 4,000 cartridges believed to contain liquid drugs hidden in boats and car boot. Noor Azman said a fibre boat and two 85 horsepower Yamaha Enduro engines were also seized. He said his party was investigating whether there were other individuals involved in the activity besides the two individuals who were friends. "Both were remanded for a week starting yesterday and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said. -- BERNAMA
