Datuk Seri Dr. Zahid Hamidi Outlines Five Core Principles to Guide UMNO Towards Its 100-Year Vision

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has unveiled five core principles aimed at steering United Malays National Organisation towards its long-term vision of reaching a century of leadership and relevance. Speaking at a party engagement, Zahid stressed that UMNO’s struggle must not be confined to present challenges alone, but should instead focus on building a strong foundation for the future—looking ahead to the party’s 100-year milestone. He emphasized the importance of nurturing a new generation of Malays who are resilient in spirit, clear in thought, and guided by strong moral values. According to him, this generation must be capable of leading, innovating, and contributing meaningfully to religion, race, and the nation. Zahid explained that the five core principles he introduced will serve as a strategic guide over the next two decades, shaping not only the strength of the party but also the development of future leaders. “These principles are not solely about reinforcing the party structure, but about cultivating individuals who are big-hearted, knowledgeable, and united in leadership,” he said. The initiative reflects UMNO’s broader effort to remain relevant in a changing political landscape while focusing on long-term leadership development and national contribution. -- MINUTESMY -- CREDIT: FB ZAHID HAMIDI

KPN To Launch “Let’s Read For 10 Minutes” Campaign To Promote Daily Reading Culture

PUTRAJAYA, April 17 -- The Ministry of National Unity (KPN), through the National Library of Malaysia, will launch the “Let’s Read for 10 Minutes” campaign on April 23 in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day. National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said that the initiative aimed to cultivate a culture of daily reading across all levels of society. He said that although only 10 minutes a day were set aside for reading, the simple habit could have a significant impact in shaping a knowledgeable, critical-thinking and competitive society. “The culture of reading should be made a lifestyle among Malaysians. With just 10 minutes a day, we can instil the value of knowledge that serves as the foundation for building a MADANI society and a more developed nation,” he said in a statement today. Aaron said this year’s campaign, themed “Reading Builds a Nation”, was aligned with the government’s aspiration to reinforce nation-building through knowledge cultivation and reading habits among Malaysians. “In line with the mission of making Malaysia a Reading Nation by 2030, KPN will continue to intensify and expand the implementation of inclusive and continuous reading promotion programmes,” he said. Aaron also called on all parties, regardless of background, including civil servants, non-governmental organisations, school students, students of higher learning institutions, as well as the private sector and corporate bodies, to take part in the campaign.
