Police Hunting Three Suspects Over RM90,000 Luxury Handbag Theft In Cyberjaya

PUTRAJAYA, June 13 -- Police are tracking down three suspects believed to be involved in a break-in at a luxury handbag outlet in a shopping complex in Cyberjaya, resulting in the loss of 25 handbags worth RM90,000. Sepang District Police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said police received a report on the incident at about 12.30 pm yesterday from a woman who owns the premises. “Checks on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed that three masked suspects dressed in black entered the premises before ransacking the outlet and taking handbags displayed on the store’s shelves,” he said in a statement today. According to him, preliminary investigations at the scene found that the suspects were believed to have gained entry into the premises by prising open a toilet window. Norhizam said the case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine, while the jail term may be extended to 14 years if the offence was committed with the intention of theft. He said the incident had also gone viral on social media and attracted public attention, adding that police were actively tracking down the suspects and seeking to recover the stolen items. Melaka Police Dismantle Online Investment Scam Call Centre

MELAKA, June 12  -- The police dismantled a 'call centre' syndicate suspected of being involved in a non-existent online investment scam with the arrest of 12 individuals in two raids at Taman Krubong Perdana here early on Wednesday morning. Acting Melaka Tengah district police chief Supt Halim Abas said that those detained comprised 10 male Chinese nationals, in addition to a local man and woman, all aged between 23 and 47 years. "In the first raid at 2.30 am, a team from the Melaka Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) arrested six individuals, consisting of five male Chinese nationals and one local man, all aged between 23 and 43 years. "Meanwhile, the second raid at 3 am led to the arrest of five more male Chinese nationals and a local woman, all aged between 27 and 47 years," he said at a press conference at the Melaka contingent police headquarters (IPK) here today. Commenting further, Halim said that the results of the social media analysis experts' review found that both syndicates engaged in online investment fraud activities that do not exist and are suspected of targeting Chinese citizens through digital platforms. It was said that the investigation found that both syndicates had started operating since early June and were using the MiChat application to communicate with the victims. The investigation results also found that all the suspects acted as customer service representatives who contacted target customers and provided explanations about online investments that could be accessed through the given link. "Interested victims would choose the offered investment and make payments managed by other syndicate members who are still at large," he said. Halim said that in the raid, the police also seized 12 sets of monitors, mouses and keyboards, 12 CPU units, 12 mobile phones, as well as two sets of modems and routers worth approximately RM40,000, which were believed to be used for conducting the activities. He said the investigation was conducted under Section 420 of the Penal Code read together with Section 120B of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and all suspects have been remanded from June 10 to June 23. He also advised the public to be more cautious before making any money transfer transactions and to check with the bank or police if they feel suspicious about any financial dealings. "The public is also advised to check phone numbers and account numbers through the Semak Mule website before making any transactions, and to immediately contact the bank or the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 997 if they fall victim to cyber fraud," he added. -- BERNAMA

Police Arrest Mother Of Two Children Who Fell From Tampoi Apartment

JOHOR BAHRU, June 8 -- Police have arrested the mother of a girl who died and her brother who was seriously injured after the children are believed to have fallen from the 12th floor of an apartment in Tampoi yesterday. Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said based on information, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Johor Bahru North district police headquarters arrested the 37-year-old foreign woman in the Tampoi area at noon on the same day. "A check found that the suspect did not have any previous criminal record and the results of the initial urine screening test conducted were also found to be negative," he said in a statement today. Ab Rahaman said an application for remand on the suspect under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code had been applied for and approved for four days, starting today. He said several witnesses at the scene were also called to record their statements to assist in the investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which is child abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure. "The real cause and motive of the incident are still under investigation and we believe that the arrest of the victim's mother will unravel the real cause of the incident," he said. Woman Held For Allegedly Confining Adopted Daughter In Storeroom In Seremban

SEREMBAN, June 8 -- Police have arrested a 46-year-old woman suspected of confining a nine-year-old girl in a storeroom behind a house in Taman Tuanku Jaafar here yesterday. Seremban district police chief ACP Mohd Yatim Osman said a report was received at 7.22 pm on June 7 regarding a young girl who was allegedly locked in an unlocked storeroom. He said initial investigations found that the victim had been the family's adopted child since she was one year and eight months old. "During the recent school holidays, the victim was placed in an unlocked storeroom behind the house and was given food twice a day. "The victim was only allowed into the house to use the toilet before being instructed to return to the storeroom afterwards," he said in a statement here today. Mohd Yatim said investigations also revealed that the victim was frequently scolded and beaten by the suspect, her adoptive mother, over minor matters, including stealing food at night. He said the victim was rescued and taken to Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Seremban for further treatment. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, and an application will be made to remand the suspect at the Seremban Magistrate's Court today to assist in investigations. Two arrested with RM57.15 million worth of drugs in Muar

JOHOR BAHRU: Police arrested two locals and seized various types of drugs worth RM57.15 million which were believed to be being smuggled to a neighbouring country during a raid in the Parit Amat Laut area, Muar yesterday. Marine Police Force (PPM) Region Two Commander ACP Noor Azman Jamal said the man and woman, aged 63 and 43, were arrested in a raid at 12.30am by a team from the Muar PPM Region Two Marine Investigation Unit and the Muar District Police Headquarters' Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division. He said the drugs were seized as a result of intelligence from his party which detected several vehicles and a boat in suspicious conditions in the area. "Based on initial observations, several people were seen unloading a number of packages suspected of containing drugs onto the boat. The team then raided and arrested the two individuals who were the senders (of the supplies)," he said in a statement. He said further inspection found 517 plastic bags suspected of containing 549 kilograms of methamphetamine, 191,268 ecstasy pills and 4,000 cartridges believed to contain liquid drugs hidden in boats and car boot. Noor Azman said a fibre boat and two 85 horsepower Yamaha Enduro engines were also seized. He said his party was investigating whether there were other individuals involved in the activity besides the two individuals who were friends. Police hunt for group suspected of robbery, housebreaking in Manjung

IPOH: Police are hunting a group of Indonesian men believed to be involved in robberies and housebreaking incidents around Ayer Tawar and Pekan Gurney, Manjung. Manjung District Police Chief, ACP Hasbullah Abd Rahman, said his department had received eight reports so far regarding the incident, which targeted houses on the edge of the forest and in remote areas. "The group is believed to consist of three to four suspects," he said in a statement here today. Hasbullah advised the public to ensure their homes are locked, enhance security features such as installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras and not keep large amounts of cash to avoid becoming targets of criminals. KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 -- Police have confirmed that a fake bomb threat was received at a prominent building in the capital last night. Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said his department received a call about the incident at 9.09pm from a security guard at the building. "The security guard informed us that he had received an email sent to the customer service centre saying that someone had placed a bomb on the 23rd floor of the building's north tower," he said in a statement here yesterday. Hoo said the Bomb Disposal Unit, Detection Dog Unit and Forensic Unit were then deployed to the location to conduct a search and found it to be a false threat. Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Molesting School Student In Seri Alam

JOHOR BAHRU, May 22 -- Police have arrested a man to assist investigations into a molestation case involving a school student in the Seri Alam area here, which has gone viral on social media since yesterday. Johor Police acting chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat said the 28-year-old suspect was picked up at about 10.30 pm yesterday. He said the arrest was made following a report lodged by the victim’s mother, a 37-year-old local woman, at 9 pm the same day. “The victim’s mother reported that the molestation incident had actually taken place in 2025 in the Seri Alam area,” he said in a statement here today. Hoo said a six-day remand order from today under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code had been granted by the Johor Bahru Magistrates’ Court to facilitate further investigations. The suspect tested negative for drugs and he had no prior criminal record, he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. Earlier, police detected a viral post uploaded by Facebook account holder ‘Mohd Fadli Salleh’ relating to the incident.
