114 APRIL -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today chaired a coordination meeting in Kuching on the implementation of Rural Water Supply (BALB) projects in collaboration with the Sarawak State Government. He described the initiative, driven at the federal level through the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), as a “game changer” aimed at improving coordination and effectiveness in the delivery of rural water supply projects across the state. Zahid said that for 2026, a total of 80 new and ongoing projects will be implemented with an allocation of RM141.87 million under the First Rolling Plan (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13). He noted that the approach would enhance coordination at the state level while ensuring smoother execution on the ground. “Our focus is to ensure that rural communities receive better and more comprehensive access to clean water. This is no longer just about projects, but about improving the quality of life of the people,” he said. KUALA LUMPUR, 13 APRIL -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Terengganu today for a one-day working visit, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring that national development initiatives effectively meet the needs of the people. Upon arrival, he proceeded to Bukit Payong in Marang to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony of the Terengganu Matriculation College (KMT), a long-anticipated project that has been in discussion since 2009 and is scheduled for completion in 2026. Anwar described the project as a clear reflection of the MADANI Government’s resolve to translate the people’s aspirations into tangible outcomes, grounded in the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and justice—particularly in expanding equitable access to education for students in Terengganu. With an initial allocation of RM27 million for 2026, the college is expected to benefit approximately 3,000 students and will be equipped with modern, conducive academic facilities, including pre-university education infrastructure. Addressing students, Anwar urged them not to underestimate the value of education and to seize every available opportunity to improve their lives and those of their families, encouraging them to become knowledgeable, well-rounded, and competitive individuals prepared for future challenges. He added that, God willing, the MADANI Government will continue to expand access to education for all Malaysian children in pursuit of a better and more inclusive future. -- Minutes MY / Igneseous Noris -- Photo: FB Anwar Ibrahim
