Agong Briefed on Implementation of Online Safety Act 2025

Sultan Ibrahim has been briefed on the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2025 (ONSA 2025) in a session held at Istana Bukit Tunku today. The briefing was presented by Ahmad Fahmi Fadzil, who outlined the objectives and key measures under the Act aimed at enhancing online safety across the country. ONSA 2025 seeks to create a safer digital environment, particularly for families and children, by placing clearer responsibilities on online platforms. Among its key initiatives is the introduction of an age verification mechanism to prevent children under the age of 16 from opening social media accounts. The Act also aims to address the growing issue of fake online accounts, including those targeting the Malay Rulers and members of the royal families. According to Fahmi, the implementation of ONSA 2025 reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening digital security and protecting vulnerable groups in the online space.
