KUALA LUMPYUR, 11 MAY — Perikatan Nasional (PN) Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan has extended his congratulations to C. Joseph Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, following their victory in the Tamil Nadu state election and Vijay’s swearing-in as Chief Minister today.
In a statement issued on Monday, Takiyuddin said the electoral outcome reflected the people’s confidence in Vijay’s reform-oriented agenda, which emphasizes justice, social harmony, youth empowerment, modernization and opposition to divisive and discriminatory politics.
He noted that Vijay, widely known as “Thalapathy Vijay” from his successful acting career, enjoys strong admiration among Malaysians, particularly Indian youths, due to his artistic achievements, humanitarian image and leadership qualities.
According to Takiyuddin, Vijay’s transition into politics has attracted considerable attention in Malaysia, especially because of the longstanding historical, cultural and linguistic ties between Tamil Nadu and the Malaysian Indian community.
Takiyuddin also expressed hope that Vijay’s leadership would bring greater progress, stability and prosperity to Tamil Nadu.
