IPOH ,16 October 2026, Two sisters aged 15 and 18 died after becoming trapped in a fire that engulfed two adjoining double-storey houses in Kampung Koh, near Sitiawan, on Friday.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon said the department received an emergency call at 9.01am, with firefighters arriving at the scene nine minutes later.
Firefighters from the Sitiawan and Seri Manjung stations, assisted by members of the Pantai Remis Volunteer Fire Brigade, were deployed to tackle the blaze.
Sayani said the fire involved two adjoining Class C houses, each measuring 40ft by 70ft. Both properties sustained approximately 90 per cent damage.
The blaze also destroyed four vehicles and a motorcycle.
The fire was brought under control at 10.30am.
She added that the department had contacted its K9 Special Team to assist with the investigation.
The victims’ bodies were subsequently handed over to the police before being taken to Teluk Intan Hospital.
