MUAR--Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has expressed disappointment with the Supreme Council of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) because the appointment of the Opposition Leader has not yet been made, while individuals who have been dismissed from the party continue to use the position. Its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said he had sent a letter suggesting that the appointment should be made immediately, but to date no action has been taken. "It is certainly not appropriate for an unqualified person to still be hanging around using the position as Opposition Leader. "If it's empty, fill it in...there won't be any (candidates). If there are candidates, there's no need to wait for Parliament to convene." "PN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan can write a letter to the Speaker to propose the chosen candidate," he said at the Pagoh Parliamentary Aidilfitri Open House at the Pagoh Youth and Sports Complex here, on Sunday. Muhyiddin added that the delay in appointing the Opposition Leader could affect the dignity and image of Perikatan Nasional in the eyes of the people. "This is not the right of Bersatu, not the right of Pas, not the right of the Malaysian People's Movement Party (Gerakan), not the right of the Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP). This is the right of PN." "I have led PN since it was established, almost five years. I know this is not difficult. When there is a decision, it should be implemented immediately. "I request that the PN Supreme Council, especially the newly appointed PN Secretary and Chairman (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar), pay serious attention to this issue and resolve it as soon as possible," he said. Earlier on Friday, PN was reported to have not yet finalised the election of the Parliamentary Opposition Leader. PN chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, said there were several processes that needed to be completed before a final decision was made. The issue of the new Opposition Leader arose after Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin was dismissed from Bersatu and there was pressure, especially from his old party, claiming that he was no longer entitled to hold the position because he was no longer a party member.
