KUALA LUMPUR: A strategic partnership between UOB Malaysia and Invest Selangor Berhad has facilitated more than RM3 billion in investments into Selangor, supporting the growth of high-value industries and the state’s economic transformation.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the investments aligned with the objectives of the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), which aims to strengthen local businesses and create high-value employment opportunities for young people.
He said the challenge was not a lack of capital, but ensuring that financing was channelled effectively to help businesses expand, strengthen existing supply chains and develop more resilient new ones.
Amirudin welcomed UOB Malaysia’s role as a strategic partner in attracting investments, describing the initiative as an important step towards improving the quality of life for Selangor residents.
Four companies submitted letters of intent during the opening ceremony of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026 as part of the collaboration.
The proposed investments cover digital infrastructure, life sciences, advanced manufacturing and new energy, reflecting investor confidence in Selangor’s growth prospects and business ecosystem.
UOB Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Ng Wei Wei said the partnership supported the bank’s efforts to connect international investors with business opportunities across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
She said the four letters of intent represented direct outcomes of the collaboration with Invest Selangor, helping investors enter new markets and establish long-term partnerships.
Beyond the investment value, the projects are expected to generate wider economic benefits through technology transfer, talent development and supply-chain opportunities for local businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Among the companies involved is Galaxy DC Pte Ltd, a developer of hyperscale data centre infrastructure focused on artificial intelligence.
Shenghui Biotechnology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd plans to develop a large-scale corn deep-processing and speciality ingredients manufacturing facility in Selangor, producing starch-based products, sweeteners and other value-added goods.
Wuxi Weifu Environmental Catalysts Co Ltd, which manufactures emission-control catalysts for the automotive and industrial sectors, also submitted a letter of intent. Its proposed investment is expected to support the development of Malaysia’s new energy vehicle ecosystem.
Meanwhile, XTC New Energy Materials (Xiamen) Co Ltd is involved in advanced battery material production, supporting the electric vehicle and energy storage supply chains.
Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari said the partnership would enable the agency to reach more international investors and facilitate investments aligned with the state’s strategic development priorities.
He added that the projects highlighted Selangor’s industrial capabilities, connectivity, talent pool and business-friendly environment, further strengthening its position as a hub for high-value industries.
The four letters of intent resulted from a public-private strategic partnership between UOB Malaysia and Invest Selangor established in November 2025.
The collaboration aims to attract global investments into Selangor, facilitate multinational companies’ market entry and support the development of future-oriented industries.
